Trafford Domestic Abuse Services, Ground Floor - East Oakland House, Talbot Road, M16 0PQ

Talking about abuse can be the first step to recovery. Trafford Domestic Abuse Services offer a community based Supporting Change Service (SCS) to anyone who lives or works in Trafford.

SCS is a 1-2-1 outreach service which provides emotional and constructive support for women and men who are currently or have previously been affected by domestic abuse. The service is delivered from community based locations encouraging access from harder to reach groups. The Service includes:

  • Active listening

  • Support in understanding the dynamics of domestic abuse

  • Providing information and referring/signposting to internal & external services.

  • Support can be accessed by telephone, email and one-to-one appointments

  • We accept referrals from outside agencies

  • Telephone advice can be provided to professionals working with families who are/have suffered Domestic Abuse

Our services are designed to be flexible, meeting the needs of people in crisis. For everyone, we can be there to listen, and provide emotional support throughout a difficult time. We can see people in our offices where we have a private meeting room or at our community venues. We do not tell people what to do; we will only provide information and discuss options available.

If someone chooses to remain in an abusive relationship, then we may talk about safety planning, risk management, and being aware of any other options available for them.

If someone chooses to leave, we can assist by making them aware of options such as civil remedies, refuge accommodation, support groups, police support, pet fostering and children's and young people's support.

We accept self referrals and referrals from other agencies.

We are also able to signpost to other services you may need such as:

  • Solicitors

  • Counsellors

  • Employment rights help

  • Fire service

  • Charities offering financial assistance

  • Drug, alcohol and health support
