Homeless Move On Support
A dedicated service to support people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless as a result of domestic abuse and offering advice and guidance for housing professionals.
Our Homeless Move On Domestic Abuse Advisor (MODAA) provides a specialist trauma-informed support service for individuals and families on a 121 basis providing the interventions needed to prevent them from becoming homeless and to resettle them in to new accommodation if required. This can include providing information and guidance, practical support, safety planning and risk management, advocacy and emotional support. Support is tailored to individual needs to ensure the most positive outcomes are achieved and the risk of them becoming homeless is reduced.
Although the MODAA’s focus is housing, service users are also supported to overcome any other issues and barriers they might be facing. They are informed, encouraged and empowered so they feel able to make the positive choices and changes needed to move forward from the abuse they have experienced.
In order to support a service users needs, the MODAA works closely with other TDAS services such as the IDVA’s and community outreach as well as with various external agencies.
A close working relationship with Housing Options Services Trafford (HOST) and local housing providers enables the MODAA to support both housing staff and their customers with any aspect of domestic abuse.
